restaurant review 254 – Vegan Junkfood bar is a chain of vegan restaurants in the Netherlands. We had already visited another location of Vegan Junkfood Bar in Amsterdam in 2017 (the one above the Vondelpark) and liked the food! We were in the city center of Amsterdam in June, and wanted to try the downtown location on this visit.

We were lucky that we could be seated immediately, because I have seen many reviews that mention long waiting queues to get in.

We had the sumo burger (14,95€), the pinky bratwurst (14,95€) (beyond meat sausage, really nice) and vegan scampis (9,50€) and fries (5,40€) on the side.
It took a bit of waiting for the food to arrive, but all in all a reasonable waiting time.
The food was great. And a lot! And tasted good. As it should for that price!

But the atmosphere really killed it for us and we wanted to get out as soon as possible. The music was SO LOUD we could hardly talk to each other (it was better upstairs, which we discovered at the end when going to the toilets which are upstairs).

The seatings (chairs / tables) are high barstool type and are really not comfortable. And completely unaccessible for wheelchair users. This is the same as in the other locations that we have visisted earlier. The upstairs area is with regular chairs (but not accessible – stairs).
The toilet was upstairs (didn’t see an accessible toilet) and was again very small.

All in all: great vegan fastfood, nicely presented, but horrible atmosphere (LOUD!). Also a pity that Vegan Junkfood bar doesn’t pay any attention to accessibility.
Will not visit again.
