restaurant review #339 – Kapulága is an Indonesian restaurant in the city center of Maastricht, on the East side of the river Maas (in the south of the Netherlands). We had already visited Kapulaga in 2018 (see REVIEW) and really liked it!
restaurant review #334 – El Castillo is a Mexican style restaurant in the city center of Valkenburg (not so far from Maastricht). We already wanted to go here years ago, when we were in Valkenburg, but it wasn’t open for lunch. So coupleof months ago, we were here in the evening (last May) and went to check it out.
restaurant review #319 – Wildgroei is a vegan lunch restaurant in the city center of Delft (the Netherlands). It is located just at the foot of the church. We were here for lunch a couple of months ago, when we visited a quilt and patchwork fair in nearby Rijswijk.
restaurant review #317 – Bar Bistro Calypso is a vegan restaurant in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). We were here for lunch several months ago. The restaurant is on a quiet square:
restaurant review #314 – Het Slachthuis is a vegan restaurant in Leiden (the Netherlands). We were here for lunch with friends a couple of months ago. ‘Slachthuis’ is the Dutch word for slaughterhouse, so that’s a peculiar name for a vegan restaurant! It is located a little bit outside of the city center, in a former flower/wheat factory, and cohouses with a communal sewing atelier.
restaurant review #309 – Tastou is a lunchroom in the center of Weert, a small town in the south of the Netherlands, right across the border with Belgium. We were here for lunch a couple of months ago, when we were on holiday in Limburg.
restaurant review #304 – This is from a visit a couple of weeks ago, when we were in Enschede. Foodbar Rauw is located just a little bit outside of the city center in the Twentsche Foodhall.
restaurant review #302 – Veggie Galore is a vegan restaurant in the city center of Nijmegen (the Netherlands). Veggie Galore serves vegan Creole dishes. We were here a couple of weeks ago with friends.
restaurant review #281 – Slot Oostende is a traditional restaurant in Goes, which is in Zeeland just across the border, and not that far a travel for us. We had already passed by on several earlier visits to Goes in the past, and noticed that they have a seperate vegan section on the menu. This review is from a visit to Slot Oostende a couple of weeks ago, before the new lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic went into effect.
restaurant review #279 – Bandung is an Indonesian restaurant at the edge of Den Bosch (or with a more fancy name ‘s Hertogenbosch) in the Netherlands. There are hardly any Indonesian restaurants in Belgium, but there are plenty in the Netherlands. So whenever we are in the Netherlands, we like to go to an Indonesian restaurant as they always have vegan options and we simply love the food. Note: it is always advised to inquire at Indonesian restaurants about the use of trassi (shrim paste) in vegetarian/vegan dishes. This review is from a visit to Bandung last Winter, before the measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. I had made a reservation online for a Friday evening, and that was definitely a must as the place was full. It was very busy. We were early, but that was no problem, and were seated near the bar.
