#309 Lovely vegan lunch, Tastou, Weert (NL)

restaurant review #309 – Tastou is a lunchroom in the center of Weert, a small town in the south of the Netherlands, right across the border with Belgium. We were here for lunch a couple of months ago, when we were on holiday in Limburg.

#304 Food OK-ish, but not so relaxed, Foodbar Rauw, Enschede (NL)

restaurant review #304 – This is from a visit a couple of weeks ago, when we were in Enschede. Foodbar Rauw is located just a little bit outside of the city center in the Twentsche Foodhall.

#281 Lovely lunch in great setting, Slot Oostende, Goes (NL)

restaurant review #281 – Slot Oostende is a traditional restaurant in Goes, which is in Zeeland just across the border, and not that far a travel for us. We had already passed by on several earlier visits to Goes in the past, and noticed that they have a seperate vegan section on the menu. This review is from a visit to Slot Oostende a couple of weeks ago, before the new lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic went into effect.

#279 Nice Indonesian rice table at Bandung, Den Bosch (NL)

restaurant review #279 – Bandung is an Indonesian restaurant at the edge of Den Bosch (or with a more fancy name ‘s Hertogenbosch) in the Netherlands. There are hardly any Indonesian restaurants in Belgium, but there are plenty in the Netherlands. So whenever we are in the Netherlands, we like to go to an Indonesian restaurant as they always have vegan options and we simply love the food. Note: it is always advised to inquire at Indonesian restaurants about the use of trassi (shrim paste) in vegetarian/vegan dishes. This review is from a visit to Bandung last Winter, before the measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. I had made a reservation online for a Friday evening, and that was definitely a must as the place was full. It was very busy. We were early, but that was no problem, and were seated near the bar.

#277 Quick lunch at Maoz Muntplein, Amsterdam (NL)

restaurant review #277 – Maoz is an international chain of vegan fastfood restaurants, with several locations in Amsterdam. I visited the one in the city center of Amsterdam (Muntplein) last Winter. So this review is from a restaurant visit from before the lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. You can take all you want from the ‘salad’ bar to pimp your falafel or mushroom bread. Salad or pita bread is only 5,95€. The food is very cheap, but was delicious.

#272 Light lunch at Meatless District (Da Costa), Amsterdam (NL)

restaurant review #272 – Meatless District is a vegan restaurant in the city center of Amsterdam (the Netherlands). This review is from a restaurant visit in 2019, so before the lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. There are two location of Meatless District, one in the soutside of town, and this one in the Da Costa neighbourhood, on the west side of town. We were here for lunch on a weekday. As it was a hot Summer day, we sat on the terrace, in front of the restaurant. Unfortunately it’s a very busy road, with busses and cars driving by instantly.

#271 Nice for a quick and small lunch, Bagels & Beans, Den Bosch

restaurant review #271 – Bagels & Beans is a chain with several locations throughout the Netherlands. There’s always something vegan available, and on our visits staff has always been very friendly to check for ingredients (see previous reviews of Bagels & Beans). This review is from a visit to the Bagels & Beans in Den Bosch a couple of months ago, before the measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. We visited Den Bosch for a book presentation in the Avans Hogeschool (College) and this Bagels & Beans at the edge of Den Bosch is very closeby. We were there for lunch and the place was packed and we were lucky there was one table free (btw, loved the architecture of the building along side this water lake nearby – see photo below).
