#268 Sandwiches and a lovely bounty dessert, Your Coffee, Hilversum

restaurant review #268Ā  – Your Coffee is a light lunch style restaurant in the city center of Hilversum. We visited in the Summer of 2019, so my post is loooong overdue šŸ˜‰ Although it’s from some time ago, I want to publish it anyway, not only for archival reasons, but also because I feel this place really deserves its own blogpost, as we had a very nice lunch here.

#267 Indonesian ricetable at Bali James, Breda (NL)

restaurant review #267 – This review is from a visit to Bali James in 2019 (before the lockdown and COVID19measures). Although it’s from a long time ago, I still like to post it for archival reasons for myself, as I like to have the photos and impressions on my blog! Bali James is an Indonesian restaurant (well the name does give it away!) in Breda, the Netherlands. Breda is just across the border from Belgium, not so far from Antwerp. The restaurant is just outside, but within walking distance from the city center. There are plenty of Indonesian restaurants in The Netherlands (given the historical link with the country), but unfortunately they are a rarity in Belgium. So whenever we are in the Netherlands, we try to go to an Indonesian restaurant, because they always have vegan dishes availble, and we love the cuisine!

#259 Voluminous fastfood lunch at Vegan Heroes, Tilburg (NL)

restaurant review #259 – Vegan Heroes is a vegan popup restaurant and is situated in a setting near the station of Tilburg (the Netherlands), sharing the place with some other start up restos (non-vegan). If their start up goes fine, they plan on opening a permanent restaurant in Tilburg. Vegan Heroes also has a setting in Eindhoven.

#258 Light lunch at Schenkers, Apeldoorn (NL)

restaurant review #258 – Schenkers is a cafĆ©/restaurant in the city center of Apeldoorn. It is a cosy place, with a very large terrace. We were here a couple of months ago in Summer, during our holiday in the Netherlands. It was a nice Summer day, not too hot, not too cold, and we sat outside on the large terrace next to the restaurant. Schenkers has a handful of vegan options standardly available. Although the two girls serving the place were working as fast as they could (and were very friendly) ordering and serving (for all in all rather simple dishes) took quite a while. So I think they are understaffed. The vegan bitterballen, which we ordered as an apptizer with our drinks, came together with the main dishes. The burger came in a slice of bread, which was a bit disappointing. It tasted good though. The falafel bowl was nice. All very reasonably priced (cheap actually). The restaurant room is wheelchair accessible. Didn’t see a wheelchair accessible toilet. The toilet was basic, but clean. …

#254 Great fastfood, but horrible atmosphere. Vegan Junkfood Bar, Amsterdam (NL)

restaurant review 254 – Vegan Junkfood bar is a chain of vegan restaurants in the Netherlands. We had already visited another location of Vegan Junkfood Bar in Amsterdam in 2017 (the one above the Vondelpark) and liked the food! We were in the city center of Amsterdam in June, and wanted to try the downtown location on this visit.

#252 Pizza with a view: Mediamatic ETEN, Amsterdam (NL)

restaurant review #252 – Mediamatic ETEN is the restaurant of Mediamatic Biotoop, an arts center organising lectures, workshops and art projects, focusing on nature, biotechnology and art+science. It is located in a greenhouse on the waterfront with a nice view over Amsterdam. It is not a vegan restaurant, but they do have a lot of vegan options (on some evenings all vegan) and many vegetables come from their own greenhouse.

#251 Banana Icecream at Rawsome, Arnhem (NL) – CLOSED

restaurant review #251 – Rawsome is a vegan restaurant in the city center of Arnhem. Well, it WAS, I just found out that they closed shortly after we visited a couple of months ago (June 2019). I’m posting my experience here anyway, if only for archieval reasons for myself!

#249 Piece of cake at Koffie ende Koeck, Amsterdam

restaurant review #249 – This is from a visit to lunch and coffee house Koffie ende Koeck in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago. All vegan! It’s located at the edge of the city, on the northwest side.

#247 Nice Indonesian rice table at Warung Adinda, Hilversum

restaurant review 247 – Warung Adinda – the name kind of gives it away šŸ˜‰ – is an Indonesian restaurant in the city center of Hilversum in the Netherlands. There are plenty of Indonesian restaurants in The Netherlands (given the historical link with the country), but unfortunately they are a rarity in Belgium. So whenever we are in the Netherlands, we try to go to an Indonesian restaurant. This is from a visit a couple of weeks ago, when we spent a couple of days in the Netherlands on holiday.

#246 Nice dinner at Rode Peper en Basilicum, Ede (NL)

restaurant review #246 – Rode Peper en Basilicum is located in the city center of Ede, near De Hoge Veluwe in the Netherlands. I had seen online that they have some vegan options and so I made a reservation, and inquired about their vegan options and this was confirmed. It definitely turned out to be necessary that I had made the reservation, because after we came, the place soon filled up. There are several vegan options clearly labelled on the menu.
