restaurant review #246 – Rode Peper en Basilicum is located in the city center of Ede, near De Hoge Veluwe in the Netherlands. I had seen online that they have some vegan options and so I made a reservation, and inquired about their vegan options and this was confirmed. It definitely turned out to be necessary that I had made the reservation, because after we came, the place soon filled up.
There are several vegan options clearly labelled on the menu.
We had a soup (coconut curry, 6,50€), the burger (15,50€), and the Poké bowl (8,50€, normally an appetizer, but I wasn’t really that hungry), with fries on the side (4,50€). It was no problem to order this as a main).
Alcoholfree beer and elderflower lemonade was 3,50€.
The fries of the side of the bowl came with regular mayo (we asked when put on the table) and the waitress went back to the kitchen to get veganaise.
The food was really nice! The fries were very greasy though.
For dessert we had a homemade vegan magnum (7,50€). It was awesome! (with caramel on the inside too – should have taken a photo of the inside!).
The restaurant room is wheelchair accessible (not all of it, some is on elevated platform). Did not see a wheelchair accessible toilet though). Toilet was clean, with paper towels to dry ones hands.

All in all: really liked it! We had a lovely dinner in an enjoyable atmosphere. Service was also very friendly.
Great to see this addition in Ede!
