#599 Nice lunch, vegan clearly labelled, Cropains, Brugge

restaurant review #599 – Fastfood shop with three vegan options!

There are three categories on the menu:
● croque (toasted bread with filling, toastie)
● wrap
● and loaded fries (or salads/bowls in the Summer menu).
Each with a vegan option (with vegan cheese, mince, sour cream, vegan mayo, ….

On my first visit, I had the croque. I thought one croque was just one triangle, so I ordered two croques (17,90€) and a side salad (4,5€). Turns out one croque equals two triangles, and so I got four triangles!! Way too much, but I could take them home in a container.
Croques and salad were nice!

Next visit I had the burrito (11,90€). Also very nice. More than enough for me!

On my last visit I had the loaded fries (12,20€). Wouldn’t order this again, was rather monotone and too much potato.

It’s a VERY small place, with only two tables and a bench/couple of chairs (not very comfy). Also some high bar chairs. So the main focus is on take-away.

One toilet at the back. Small, but clean.
The back area is stacked with supplies, and as such looks a bit disorderly.
Not accessible, small step to get in.

I wish they would put labelling on the waste bins: which one is for waste, or paper or plastic, …?, Because now everything just seemed thrown all together.

Very friendly.

I asked couple of years ago via mail whether the bread is vegan and got confirmation.
The vegan croques are baked in the same toaster as the non-vegan ones. They clean thoroughly before putting in the vegan one.
Fries are fried in plantbased oil.

Menu changes about every semester. Shortly after my first visit, the menu changed (no longer salads, but loaded fries, and different croques and wraps).

I really like that they have clearly labelled vegan options! And reasonably priced (considering other prices in Bruges).
