restaurant review #499 – Lovely lunch in the heart of the city! Blackbird is a vegan breakfast / lunch / brunch place. This is from some visits in 2024.
On each occasion I had scrambled tofu (15€) and a piece of pie 6,5€ (by @chezmariette). My friend had a bowl (don’t remember which one it was…)

I’ve been here several times over the years (REVIEW1 and REVIEW2), and it’s always a pleasure. I do wish they would add some new things to/change the menu, to be able to taste other dishes 😉
Restaurant room is on ground level. One toilet at the back (steps up) – not accessible.
Lovely decorated interior, it’s a small place, and yet it feels spacious.
To be sure of a table: book ahead, as it’s a popular place!
They also have a clothing brand Radikal kindness, with shirts with nice messages 😉↪️

Hi Trudi, My wife and I will be visiting Gent for a week in May. When there we almost always go to Lekker GEC, opposite the Railway Station, but would like a change. Have you any advice for us? (we have been vegetarian since the early 1990s, and vegan since about 2014). Best wishes, Neil
Hey! Here are some suggestions, all in the city center. Do check the opening hours, some are lunch, some are dinner 😉
– Knol & Kool, vegan bistro & shop (they have some nice specialties like vegan cheezes in the shop)
– Oh!Ma, vegan traditional dishes like stew and vol au vent
– Plant a Pizza: vegan pizza restaurant!!
– Greenway: one of the pioneers! small place, more fastfood style (order at counter) but lovely food!
– Soul Kitchen: more ‘restaurant’ feel, but affordable!
– Amour Gent: a little more up north, not all vegan, but buffet is 90% vegan and clearly indicated. Really good.
– Catberry: the place for a coffee and piece of pie
