restaurant review #500 – Yes indeed, 500 restaurant reviews, woohoo! A milestone! And I choose this particular restaurant for number 500, because everything fell into place here 🙂
And also yes, although I had my doubts, I will be continuing with the restaurant reviews, so here’s to 500 more 😉

Mildreds has several vegan restaurants in London. This is from a visit to the restaurant at Victoria, when we were in London for a show of David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) at the Royal Albert Hall (October 2024).

We hadn’t made a reservation but were well early for dinner (before 6pm) so luckily we could take a seat.
Difficult to choose from the menu, it all sounded so good!

We had:
Small dishes

• dumplings, kimchi gyoza £8
• arancini balls £8

Mains:

• Mushroom Ale pot pie £16,9
• Brown sugar glazed chickn burger £16,9

Desserts:

• Creme brulee £8
• Butter rum Sticky toffee £9.5

Loved the food! Delicious, nicely presented, good portions.
The only remark would be that it was very unhandy to eat the pot pie. The puff pastry was on top of the stew, and trying to cut it, the stew just spilled over the pot. Maybe there’s a trick to it, but I had no clue, and it became a bit of a mess 😉 So I simply took the puff pastry off, and ate it on the side.

Nice spacious place. Lots of seatings. Nice decor, with artworks on walls. As it started to fill up, it did get louder though. Friendly service, and courses followed swiftly.

An ‘optional’ service charge of 12,5% was automatically added to the bill.

Resto is on ground floor. Toilets are clean, very nicely renovated and stylish. Toilets are not gendered, but for ‘all people’. Love that. Also an accessible toilet (a rarity!).

We had a really nice dinner, in an enjoyable setting! Loved it!

PS: We had dinner at Mildreds at the restaurant in Soho years ago, and didn’t like it there (very cramped, very loud, rushed, food not that special- SEE REVIEW). Really glad we did try this one at Victoria. Also went to sister resto Mallow (near Borough Market), which we also really enjoyed! We even bought the Mildreds Vegan cookbook!
