restaurant review #519 – Apparently we don’t look vegan 😉 . When entering this vegan restaurant in Rome, Italy, we were met by a rather short and unwelcoming:
‘This is a vegan restaurant. A vegan buffet’. 🧐😬
No: Hello, or welcome, or anything. No smiles!
Like, this was a warning? We probably don’t look like the kind of people who want to eat there, or what?
After we told her: ‘Yes, we are both vegan‘, the reply was simply
‘The buffet isn’t ready yet!’
SNAP!
(Btw, it was 12.20 and according to google and their site it opens at noon …).
‘Well, can we already take a seat?‘
To finally be assigned a table, like reluctantly? …
(PS: the person at the counter was much more friendly, smiling, welcoming 😘💚).
I also wonder how this goes down with non-vegan clients. Not really inviting …
The buffet (pay by weight) is marvellous. Plenty of choice, and really delicious dishes! Also sushi rolls. One plate was 18€, the other 23,5€.
On the expensive side (we didn’t stack our plates with a mountain, but were full nonetheless). All in all good value for money.
We also had some desserts. Tiramusu and chocolate mousse. 5€ each. Nice (the chocolate was not really mousse tho).
Not accessible, step to get in. Some high tables with high stools, some regular tables/stools. Hard, not so comfy (cushions would be nice).
Toilet at the back. Clean.
Overall: Delicious food, great variety!
But try to be more welcoming please? , Would make it much more enjoyable & inviting 🙂
