#365 – Nice buffet at Sattgrun Neumarkt, Koln / Cologne (GER)

restaurant review #365 – Sattgrün is a chain of vegan restaurants with locations in Cologne and Dusseldorf. We visited two of them in Cologne last year. The one in ‘Mitte’ (now called Kolumba Viertel – SEE REVIEW) and this one at Neumarkt (now closed unfortunately). So you may wonder, why still write a review, when it is already closed? Well, because it is my blog, and I want it in my archieves 😉

#199 Nice vegan lunch from the buffet at Tibits, London

restaurant review #199 – Tibits is an international vegetarian restaurant chain. There are several locations in Switzerland, and also two restaurants in London (in Soho and near Waterloo station). We went to the one on Bankside (Waterloo station) a couple of months ago, for lunch. Tibits offers a buffet, where you can choose yourself, and one pays at the counter (where you also get your drinks). Price is per weight of food on your plate. The buffet was quite varied, and the vegan options are clearly labelled (seemed that most of the buffet was vegan). Lots of choice! There’s also a buffet with several vegan desserts. We had a vegan raspberry pie and a chocolate and pear cake. Delicious! I don’t remember the exact prices, but it was somewhat on the expensive side though (it is the city centre of London afterall). There was a relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of space inside the restaurant. Not crammed together like we have encountered at many other London restaurants. There’s also a nice veranda room at the back, which is bright …

#131 Great buffet at Noordoever, Louvain (2)

restaurant review #131 – Noordoever is a new vegetarian restaurant in Louvain (opened in 2015). It is at the edge of the city, close to the docks and the old factories of beer brewing company Stella Artois. Noordoever actually means the North Shore, as it is indeed on the north shore of the docks. We already wrote a review about Noordoever here. This review is from a visit in Spring of 2017, when we visited for lunch. The buffet is not all you can eat, but one pays per weight (if once compares that with other all you can eat buffet restaurants, that does make it more expensive). The buffet has a nice variety of dishes, some are vegetarian, but most are vegan, and the ingredients are clearly indicated. This was our lunch: We paid a total of 47,44€ for lunch. All in all soemwhat expensive (also considering it is self service). But we do like restaurant Noordoever a lot: it’s spacious, clean, nicely renovated and has a relaxed atmosphere, and the food is very nice. …

#107 Nice lunch at vegetarian restaurant Noordoever, Louvain

Restaurant review #107 – Noordoever is a new place at the edge of Louvain, on the north side (opened in 2015). It is close to the docks and the old factories of beer brewing company Stella Artois. The area around Noordoever is nicely renovated, with new appartments and a nice open space for events and get togethers next to the docks. Restaurant Noordoever is a nice spacious place, with large windows and as such very bright. It’s a lovely decor. Some chairs have cushions, which is nice and comfortable. There is also a seperate room for meetings or group lunch. You cannot order a la carte, but there is a buffet with loads of options to choose from. Noordoever is a vegetarian restaurant, but most dishes at the buffet were vegan, which was clearly indicated next to the dishes (also with the ingredients of the dish). The buffet normally starts at 12 o clock, but it was was more like 12.15 when the buffet was ready and all dishes were presented and we could start lunch. For drinks we had a …

#105 All you can eat vegan food at Tai buffet, London (UK)

Restaurant review #105 – Tai Buffet is a vegan restaurant in center of London, near Shepherd’s Bush. We went here in the weekend that we were in London for Vegfest London (see review here), in October 2016. I telephoned the restaurant to make a reservation, and the girl at the phone said there is always a place available, but she did reserve a table for us. That appeared not to be necessary, there was still plenty of room (about 7PM on a Sunday evening). Tai buffet offers an all you can eat buffet. I did notice a sign that you can only be there for maximum two hours. I could easily see why they had to put that up there (there was a guy next to us who had already gone to take a full plate four times and was still continuing to eat when we left!). A bit uncertain whether it was all vegetarian or vegan (on the window it read ‘vegetarian restaurant’). The guy behind the counter assured me that it was all vegan: no eggs, no dairy! Allright! …

#62 Buffet at vegan restaurant Moonfood in Brussels **

Restaurant review #62 – Moonfood is a organic vegan restaurant in the city center of Brussels, just a 5 minute walk from the main Central train station. It opened in the beginning of 2015. Moonfood started out as a raw food restaurant, but there is now also a hot buffet. We had planned a visit to Moonfood in the Spring of 2015, but despite having received confirmation by mail that the restaurant would be open that day, we arrived … at a closed door. Bummer! Second try in the Fall of 2015, and luckily this time it was open! We went on a weekday at about 5PM and worked our way uphill to the restaurant, against the constant stream of commuters on their way to the Central station, going home. — UPDATE — see below The place is very spacious, with heigh ceilings and tables widely spread across the restaurant. Lots of incoming light from the wall to wall windows. The interior breathes a ‘natural’ feel, with lots of wood and branches of trees (btw, although conspicuously looking like leather, the …

#7 Restaurant Komkommertijd, Gent ****

restaurant review #7 – Restaurant Komkommertijd in Ghent is probably the best know vegan restaurant in Belgium (there are in fact only 3 vegan restos in Belgium). Komkommertijd literally translates as ‘cucumber time‘, a period where there is not much news to report and not much happening. The word possibly originates in 17th century England, referring to the period when there was hardly any business for tailors, because when the cucumbers were in season the gentry left town for the countryside and business was slow for them. Business is definitely not slow at Komkommertijd in Ghent. It is highly recommended to make a reservation, because every time we’ve been there, the place is packed. The restaurant has an all you can eat vegan buffet, with soup, warm and cold dishes and also a dessert (most often a piece of cake). At lunchtime, you pay 13,50€ for the buffet, in the evening and during the weekend it’s 16€. You can go and fill your plate as many times as you want, so this is definitely the place to go if you …
