restaurant review #316 – Ohana Poké bowls opened last year in the city center of Bruges, near the Stadsschouwburg. Meanwhile, it has been renamed ‘Moana Pokebowls’. And they now also have a location in Blankenberge!
We have visited the restaurant in Bruges twice in 2021. So this review is already from a couple of months ago.

There was no vegan option standardly available on the menu. We could get the vegetarian one (without the sauce). Or compose your own, like we did, with rice or quinoa, etc and tofu, greens, seeds/nuts and more. Plenty of options to vary and make combinations!

Only the ginger sauce was said to be vegan (rest is mayo). There was soy sauce (Kikoman) available at the table.

Nice food, healthy and fresh. Really liked it, and cheap! The small bowl was 8.90€ the large 12,90€.
The small bowl was more than enough for me. My husband had the large bowl, but it contained about the same amount of food as my small bowl. We saw ‘medium’ sized bowls pass to other tables which had more food in them? So perhaps there was a mixup there.

The interior is rather kitsch, with a mish mash of several ‘exotic’ style elements (parrot, snake, mural of forrest), and cultural elements that I think are not really related to Hawaiian culture😉 Our lunch was not so relaxed, as there was horrible music playing (and way too loud!).

Remarkable: the restaurant has a large accessible toilet in the back. But there’s no way you can get there with a wheelchair, as there are two large steps to get into the restaurant room. On our second visit, the toilets could have used some cleaning, and there was no toilet paper nor paper to dry ones’ hands in the ladies.

All in all: love the food. Healthy fresh. Not so relaxed atmosphere. Will probably order take out next time.
