#338 Lovely take away and catering from Yasai, Ghent

restaurant review #338 – Yasai is a vegan catering business from Ghent. We had ordered a take away menu for Valentine’s day, and Yasai did the catering for a party my husband and I organised earlier this year. So Yasai also does catering on location outside of Ghent. Technically this is not a restaurant review, but I’m posting it in that category anyway 😉 The Valentine’s take away menu:

#286 Vegan pie and more at Karbon, Ghent

restaurant review #286 – This review is from a visit to Karbon in the beginning of October 2020, before the second lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic were enforced. Karbon is a new place in Ghent, where you can order take away (big counter with options stalled out) or eat in the restaurant itself. It is in the city center, not far from the Belfry. We were here on the opening day (Oct 9), as we had seen a post from Chez Mariette delivering vegan pies to Karbon. They also offer several vegan lunch and dinner options, or you can ask to have your dish veganised. Vegan breakfast is also possible. Vegan options are not labeled on menu, so you need to ask. Vegetarian options can mostly be veganised (eg leave out feta).

#284 Nice gastronomic vegan lunch at Naturell, Ghent

restaurant review #284 – Naturell is the ‘sister restaurant’ of ‘t Aards Paradijs in Nevele, which we have visited a couple of years ago (see restaurant review #156 here). In 2010, chef Lieven Lootens was awarded the title of best vegetable chef of the year (beste Groentekok). Our visit to ‘t Aards Paradijs was a great gastronomic experience, and we have been wanting to go to Naturell for quite a while. A couple of weeks ago it finally happened, as we went there to celebrate my 50th birthday. Yeah 🙂 This review is from a visit to Naturell in October 2020, before the second lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started.

#264 – Nice tapas dinner, somewhat strange combinations, Madonna, Ghent

restaurant review #264 – This review is from a restaurant visit to Madonna a couple of months ago at the beginning of 2020, just before the lockdown measures due to the COVID19 pandemic started. Madonna is a vegetarian restaurant in the city center of Ghent, near the Sint-Michiels church. We were here on a weekday for dinner. The restaurant room is spacious, and is old-style with lots of wood on the walls and a high ceiling. A rather dark atmosphere. Wooden chairs (not so comfy). The tapas menu (21€ pp) is the only option (next to that you can choose some small appetizers like olives or nuts, and desserts). It was said to be no problem to veganize the tapas menu (see photo of menu).
