#601 Many vegan options, Le Touquet, Oostende (2)

restaurant review #601 – This is one of the few restaurants in Oostende offering vegan options, and the location is right at the beach.
Our previous visit in 2016 was rather disappointing (serving non vegan sauce, forgot our order, ..) , so we waited a long time to visit again… Note: this time was better! 😉

Some dishes are labelled with a V, but it wasn’t clear what that actually meant (vegetarian?). The waiter clarified those dishes are vegan or can be adapted to be made vegan. Would love to see that more clearly on the menu:

Besides the pastas (spaghetti, tagiatelli, tortelloni), there are two vegan main dishes: seitan steak (28,8€) with either mushroom or pepper cream sauce (3,5€), or balls in tomato sauce (23,80€).

For starters we had the seaweed croquettes (13,80€) and cheese croquettes (13,20€) (as tapas portions), which followed timely and were nice. We got some bread with them.

The main dishes took a véry long time.
We had the balls in tomato sauce & seitan w mushroom sauce. Both came with a bowl of raw greens on the side. But then it took another while before the fries were served.

The seitan steak was very dense, I couldn’t finish it all. Nice sauce. Fries were nice. The balls in tomato sauce were OK, but not really a deep flavour.
As we were pretty stuffed and pressed for time, we didn’t have any dessert (there are several vegan options).

Toilets are downstairs. With vegan soap to wash hands. Love the attention to such detail!

The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and there’s an accessible toilet on ground floor at the back.

Friendly service.

Very expensive though, for rather simple dishes (the seitan with sauce is 32,3€).

    Dank voor deze tip! Ons bezoek aan dit restaurant was bijzonder aangenaam, zowel wat de maaltijd betreft als qua bediening (zeer klantvriendelijk, duidelijke info i.v.m. de vegan gerechten). Ook wij hadden aan de maaltijd genoeg en zullen dus moeten terugkeren om de vegan desserts te proeven
