restaurant review #475 – This frietkot is in between Bruges and Ghent, in a more rural area. We had tried visiting here once before, but it was on a Sunday evening, and really crowded inside then, so we left.

This time was quieter (we were early in the evening), and as it was a nice Summer evening, we could now take a seat outside. ⛱️☀️

🍟🧆 Had large pack fries, vegan ‘chicken’ nuggets, kipcorn, mini loempias (springrolls), and 2x veganaise.

It’s not really my type of food 🙈, it’s greasy fastfood, but great that they have vegan options.
Very cheap (together with 3 drinks, it was about 21€) Some of the snacks (or all?) are from Mora.
The veganaise is the only vegan labelled sauce, but some of the other sauces, like ketchup are probably also vegan (check).
Also selection of vegetables dish available (see photo).

It’s very rare for a frietkot in Belgium to
- 1) bake in plantbased oil (traditionally, it’s in ox fat or even horse fat).
- 2) have vegan snacks (clearly labelled).
Especially in this rural area between Ghent and Bruges.
So 👏🏼👏🏼 yeah 👍
Very friendly too. 💚

Would love to see more vegan ‘frietkot’/fastfood options though. Like vegan cheesecroquettes, onion rings, stoverij, stoofvleessaus, brochetten, … and a bun for the burger. 😉 (compaare for example with the offer at vegan frituur PEPAS in Leuven!)

Entrance is accessible (small curve). Toilet upstairs. Parking for several cars in front.
