restaurant review #386 – Whenever we are in the Netherlands, we always try to go to an Indonesian restaurant to have a vegan ricetable. That’s a selection of several small dishes., and some sides like atjar and peanut crumble.

This is from a visit to Indonesian restaurant Batavia in Arnhem in the Summer of 2022. We were on route from Cologne (Germany), where we went to a show of super prog band Transatlantic, to Amsterdam to go see Pearl Jam. Some videos below and more on my YouTube.
We asked the vegetarian ricetable and inquired about the use of eggs.
First we had vegetable soup. Then the ricetable. Two dishes with eggs were left out, and we got springrolls instead. The ricetable contained dishes with tofu and tempeh. (20,40 € pp).

The food was nice. The drinks not so much. First we asked coke, and that was probably the left over of a large bottle that was left open (or open a long time?) Because it had not sparkle anymore. Then we asked sparkling water. Same issue.

Service was friendly, although sometimes not so easy to understand.
We sat on the terrace. Nice to be outside, but alongside a rather busy road. Inside was much quieter.
Not accessible. Stairs to go to toilets. Nothing to dry ones hands after washing them.
All in all: Nice lunch, but stale drinks
