#542 OK Fries, nice place with vegan options, Farmer Fries, Busum (GER)

restaurant review #542 – It was a very rainy day (no fun when on holiday!) and we were struggling to find a place with decent vegan options …

#537 Bread with avocado and bell pepper dish, Meersatt, Sankt Peter Ording (GER)

restaurant review #537 – Lovely view, but not so great for vegans. There’s a vegan breakfast on the menu. But no vegan lunch options unfortunately.

#479 Great breakfast, very basic accomodation, Hotel Nicolay, Zeltingen GER

restaurant review #479 – Vegan Hotel at the Moselle in Germany! We were here for a couple of nights in the Fall of 2023. Breakfast buffet was lovely. Lots of things to choose from, cereals, fruits, jam, slices, pate, spread, …No tofu scramble or other hot dishes, or Danish pastry, which would make it complete! Breakfast is in 2 shifts, and you have to notify the day before if you want the early shift or the later one. A bit of a pity, one of the pleasant things of being on holiday is just waking up when you want to, no alarm clock. Apparently some rooms in the hotel have been recently renovated, but our room clearly wasn’t. Judging by the bathroom and furniture, I think it stems from the late 1970’s? Which also means poor insulation, and you can hear traffic from the road as if the window is open. The room was very basic, with some furniture wore down. Fridge dirty and not working (was mentioned and apologised for by the owner, but …

#478 Schnitzel and Flammkuche at Die Sonnenuhr, Zeltingen (GER)

restaurant review #478 – Die Sonnenuhr is one of the restaurants of vegan hotel Nicolay, in the south west of Germany (Moselle region). We had dinner here twice, while staying at the hotel (visit in Fall of 2023 – REVIEW following this one).

#473 The most overpriced falafel we ever had, Auntie Clara, Sankt Peter Ording (GER)

restaurant review #473 – We went here for dinner during our holiday in Germany/ Denmark. We actually wanted to have dinner at Deichkind, which reportedly has good vegan options, but unfortunately it was fully booked. Not that many other options in town, so ended up here. Nice modern building, very open, spacious, very hipster feel. The restaurant room (part of hotel) more has a feeling of an upgraded cantine though. When inquiring at the entrance, the waiter said they have many vegan options! 😊That sounded good. But there were only 2 starters (salad and vegetable dish) and two mains (falafel and artichoc). 😔 Inquired about the vegetable starter (wanted to know if I could get it as a main) but was not on offer (??). I wanted to order a mocktail. 🍸But couldn’t have one, because that had to be asked at the bar, on the other side of the building, replied the waiter. Uuhm??? 🤔(When we left, saw the people at another table being served 2 cockails, so ???). So we both ordered the …

#469 Lovely lunch, fresh bowls, Alex kitchen, Husum (GER)

restaurant review #469 – Loved this place! 😊🌿For lunch: Order at counter and pick up your order when ready. Vegan options are clearly indicated, and certain other dishes can also be veganised (eg different sauce). Had the vegan chickn bowl & Mexican bowl (with vegan alioli sauce), 15,30€ each. Very decent portions, fresh, really good! Loved it! Modern renovated interior. Entrance is stepfree, but then there’s a step inside, and seatings are high barchairs/tables. Not accessible. Didn’t see an accssible toilet. Toilets very clean with individual towels. Love that! Large outdoor seating. Also vegan cake/pastry available, but we were stuffed! #431 Loved this place! Café Flowery, Koblenz (GER)

restaurant review #431 – I normally don’t post reviews from coffee bars anymore, or places where we just had a piece of cake or coffee (I can’t even keep up with the restaurant reviews as it is 😉 but want to make an exception for this place. Cafe Flowery in Koblenz!

#430 Nice lunch, big portions, Loy Vegan, Trier (GER)

restaurant review #430 – Loy Vegan is a vegan restaurant with Asian style cuisine in the city center of Trier in Germany. We were here for lunch a couple of months ago. We were early, at noon, and were the only patrons. By the time we left some other tables were occupied. Had a coconut soup (7€), fried dumplings with tofu and morels (6,9€), fried tofu with peanut sauce and coconut milk (16,9€), and noodles with tofu and seitan (16,9€). Big portions, I couldn’t finish my dish. Although the menu is quite extensive, a lot of the dishes seem to be variations of the same base, using tofu and/or seitan. Would have loved to get some vegan shrimp for example. The dishes and menu – although many pages – felt somewhat uninspired, it could be so much more creative! Ok service, but very reserved. Only the necessary communication. Eighties/nineties music, which we liked 😃Nice interior, comfy. Very large outdoor seating space. Inside accessible, but toilets are downstairs. Clean. Didn’t see an accessible toilet (I forgot …
