restaurant review #227 – Vanilla Black is a vegetarian gastronomic restaurant in the city center of London, close to Chancery Lane. We were here before two years ago, and really enjoyed our visit (see review). We saw there was still place for lunch when we were in London last October (after VegfestUK), and we decided to make an online booking for lunch.
We were warmly welcomed, and guided to our table.
Our lunch was 3 courses, £26,50 (without tip) which we found very reasonable! For each course, we could choose between two options, so we each had a different lunch (see the menu photos for the dishes).
The starters were cold appetizers and cold soup. A clever choice, as these are dishes that can be readily served. The main courses followed in a reasonable pace. The dessert with banana was sublime!
Contrary to what I previously wrote, there is a toilet on ground floor as well, that is wheelchair accessible. Toilet was clean and tidy. The access of the restaurant is not stepfree however (and a bit of an awkward turn to get in with a wheelchair).

Chairs are not really comfortable. The ambiance in the restaurant is really nice and relaxed.
All in all: we absolutely loved it! One of our favourites in London. Nice food, great service. Great value for money.
