#318 Salad and toast at Books & Brunch, Brugge

restaurant review #318 – Books and Brunch is a breakfast/lunch restaurant, a ten minute walk from the city center of Bruges. As the name gives away, there are plenty of books to read in the restaurant. This is from a visit in 2021. I am way behind on posting restaurant reviews, but trying to catch up šŸ˜‰

#170 Paninis at vegan lunch bar Mie Vie, Ghent

restaurant review #170 – Mie Vie is a vegan lunch and coffee bar in the city center of Ghent. It is located just next to the Vrijdagsmarkt, on the north side of town. I was here for lunch a couple of weeks ago with a friend. Afterwards we visited Cat CafĆ© Dreamcathers which is just 2 minutes away, where we had vegan brownie (review will follow). The website mentions MieVie is a place for “brunch, lunch and sweet hunge”. The menu mentions several sandwiches, paninis, salads, and muffins. One orders at the counter, the food is brough to the table, and when one leaves, pays at the counter. We both had a juice with apple & mangoĀ  (2,40€). And for lunch we had paninis: one with mushrooms and tofu, the other with ‘mozarella’ (each 8€). I didn’t visit the toilets at Mie Vie, so have no photo to include here, and don’t know whether it’s accessible (Why do I otherwise include a pic of the toilet? Read about it HEREĀ ). The restaurant itself is with …

#125 Delicious and beautiful pastry at VG PĆ¢tisserie, Paris

Restaurant review #125 – shop review #35- VG PĆ¢tisserie is an organic and vegan pastry shop/bistro in Paris. We had seen pictures of their beautiful creations on social media, and definitely did not want to miss this on our visit to Paris a couple of weeks ago! It is located on the east side of town, in between the Place de la Bastille and the famous cemetery PĆØre Lachaise. In the morning, VG PĆ¢tisserie serves breakfast and brunch, in the afternoon only pattisserie. One can also place an order and collect at the shop. We saw a lot of people coming in and collecting their order or buying pastry from the shop (also because it was Father’s Day in France). VG PĆ¢tisserie is a rather small place, with only two seating tables. We were lucky that people from one table just left as we arrived, and we could take a seat. Choice of pastry in the counter was rather limited (3 sorts of pastry), but we were there on a Sunday, the day before their …

#68 Vegan lunch at Le Pain Quotidien, Hasselt ***

Restaurant review #68 – A couple of weeks ago, we were in Hasselt and had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien. It is located in the city center of Hasselt, just a 2 minutes walk from the market square. Le Pain QuotidienĀ (LPQ)Ā is a world wide chain of organic bistros, founded by Belgian Alain Coumont. We already wrote a review of our visit to LPQ in the city center of Bruges, you can read that review here. Alain Coumont has recently also started a vegan branch of bistros, Le Botaniste, of which we visited the one in Ghent recently (see our review here). Pain Quotidien is French for Daily Bread. LPQĀ sells a wide variety of bread over the counter, and you can also sit down forĀ breakfast, lunch or just a coffee with some baked goodies. There’s always something vegan available and vegan items are clearly marked on the menu. Most of the breads are also vegan (see our blogpost about LPQ in Bruges). We were there early and ordered some drinks to start with. The drinksĀ came swiftly.Ā 45 …
