restaurant review #577 – Vegan take-away sushi!!
Vegan options are pretty rare in this region, so happy to find a sushi place with a vegan section on the menu! 🙂 (see also note below about the slaugherhouse of Tielt).
We had the vegan combo as take away + two drinks = 46,30€
To be sure, I inquired whether the sauces didn’t contain egg or milk, and he checked the package of the soy sauce and confirmed.
It was about a 20 min wait. We had our lunch at a picnic table outside of town, at a vineyard.
Nice lunch, but it’s basically sticky rice with vegs and seaweed (no mayo or other sauces inside). We did get wasabi, soy sauce and pickled ginger on the side. Some vegan protein like tofu or tempeh would be nice. 😉
Reserved friendly, some staff speak no Dutch (communicated in English).
Interior looks nice (it was empty though). Toilets upstairs, old fashioned but clean. Didn’t see an accessible toilet. Not accessible, step to get in and step inside.
We had a nice lunch!

The infamous slaughterhouse is just outside of Tielt. The sign reads ‘Amusant platteland’ = amusing countryside.
Dont see anything amusing in a photo of pig corpses and the smell of blood and death …
