restaurant review #456 – This place is in between Bruges and Ghent. Was here for dinner on a weekday. Nice restaurant with outdoor seating at the back. It’s much more spacious inside than you would think from the front of the restaurant.

We were hoping to each have a different starter and main, like I’d read in a review from past Winter on Happy Cow.

But there was now only 1 vegan starter and 1 vegan main on the menu: cheese croquettes (17€) and stew (stoverij, 25€). PS: the fries are baked in plantbased oil!
The bread with butter on our table was immediately replaced by vegan bread and olive oil upon taking a seat. Nice that they notice these things!
We had mocktails (11€ and 13,5€, steep!), which came with a small appetizer: some mini crackers and pesto (yes, vegan). The cheese croquettes followed shortly. Were nice.

Then it was quite a wait for the main.
Nice stoverij, I liked it (my husband found it too sweet). Not really a big portion, and there was a lot of sauce. Not a lot of fries though. Would have appreciated a refill.
The fries came with veganaise!

There was raspberry sorbet on offer for dessert, but we declined.
Service was friendly and welcoming.

Entrance stepfree, front room with 3-4 tables is on ground floor, then a large step to get to rest of restaurant. Toilets in front part, no accessible toilet. Toilets very clean, with individual towels, love that!

All in all: we had a nice dinner. Pity there’s only one option. They are knowledgeable about vegan.
But very expensive (especially being not a big portion)! Haven’t even had such prices in Bruges, Ghent or Antwerp …
From a visit in April 2024.
PS: ‘mareine’ means grandma 😉
