100+ vegan burgers for International Hamburger Day!

As International Hamburger Day or World Vegan Burger Day was coming up, I thought of making a compilation of some of the vegan burgers we have eaten over the years to celebrate! Yes, #veganseatburgerstoo ! I hoped I would find a handful of vegan burgers for this post … turns out, I found 100 burgers! šŸ™‚ And no, we don’t eat this every day šŸ˜‰ I went back to posts from the beginning years of this blog, back to 2014! There are burgers from restaurants and food stalls in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Spain and Austria. And a handful of homemade burgers too. The photos are just in random order, and with a link to the review of the restaurant or the event. There you can read whether we liked them or not šŸ˜‰ I took all of these photos myself, but got some help from my husband in eating them šŸ˜‰

Impressions from Ieperfest 2019. Vegan hardcore music festival

Ieperfest is aĀ 3-day hardcore music festival,Ā just outsideĀ YpresĀ (Ieper, 75km from Bruges, Belgium). Since day one, more than 20 years ago,Ā all the food at Ieperfest isĀ vegan! In previous years, the festival was mid August, but this year it has been set to the beginning of July. We just went for the afternoon, to taste some of the great food, and enjoy the atmosphere. The weather was mild (not too hot, not too cold) and luckily no showers when we were there.

Ieperfest is a 3-day hardcore music festival, just outside Ypres (Ieper, 75km from Bruges, Belgium). Since day one, more than 20 years ago, all the food at Ieperfest isĀ vegan! It was two years ago that we went to Ieperfest (see our blogpost here), and it was a wet edition in 2014.Ā This time, it was a beautifulĀ Summer weekend, and we went again one afternoon to try out the vegan goodies and enjoy the atmosphere. We tried to tasteĀ something from each foodstall, but by the end of the afternoon were too stuffed to accomplish that plan šŸ˜‰ Payment for food and drinks was with tokens: we paid 66 euros for 30 tokens in total. Our plan was to startĀ our food trip with the Flemish stew with seitan and potatoes from the Ieperfest Hardcore Foodstall, but it was announced it was only available from 5PM onwards. Bummer! SoĀ we startedĀ withĀ a Dutch weedburger and some ‘Wish ‘n Chips’, that latter being a new ‘algae’ based dish from TDW. Nice! Here’s an overview of the food and drinks we had:   …

50 posts and a new profile pic!

Wow. Time flies. We’ve posted 50 blogposts on The Bruges Vegan already! So decided it was time forĀ a new profile pic. It’s the back of a T-shirt, from this shop: Freeandwild. I bought it at the vegan music festival Ieperfest (15ā‚¬) some weeks ago, see our blog. I hope I still will get a chance to show it live this Summer! If only the sun would comeĀ out of hiding!

Ieperfest is a 3-day hardcore music festival, just outside Ypres (Ieper, 75km from Bruges, Belgium). Since day one, more than 20 years ago, all the food at Ieperfest isĀ vegan! So we went to check it out on day1! To listen to some bands (a trip down memory lane for one of us!), hang out, relax, and get a general impression of the atmosphere. ButĀ especially to taste the vegan food!Ā It’s pretty rare to find vegan food at a music festical, so toĀ have all catering fully vegan (and most of it organic too) is really extraordinary! Not having to ask whether the fries are baked in vegetable oil, being able to order food withoutĀ worryingĀ aboutĀ hidden ingredients! What a relief! And plenty of choice too! Vegan food catering at Ieperfest: This is what we ateĀ at Ieperfest: For refreshments,Ā there’s of course plenty of beer available, but it’s nice you can also drink organic apple or orange juice (2ā‚¬). And Koek & Zopie offers a variety of organic coffees. Unfortunately, the rain came pooring down several times, turning the festival grounds …
