restaurant review #580 – Vegan green curry on menu. This place is just at the edge of the city center.
I went here for an early lunch on a weekday (at noon). The menu is pretty traditional (oysters, salmon, steak, …). There’s one vegan dish on the menu: green curry with seasonal vegetables (26€, bit steep).
The curry, with a portion of rice on the side, was a huge portion, I could not finish it. It was nice. Would love to have some tofu or tempeh in it.
Unhandy to eat though, especially in the beginning as the large chunks of vegs were swimming in curry and it was nearly impossible to cut them. So I first had some of the sauce as ‘soup’.
Nice place, as the name suggest, a former ‘garage’. Industrial look. Relaxed vibe (it was not half full). Combination of regular chairs/ tables and high ones.
Toilets at the back (step up), clean, and modern.
Didn’t see an accessible toilet.
Loved the albums in the toilet. Im currently learning to play Fly Away from Lenny Kravitz on drums. A hard one, really fast beat (for me at least 😉 .
Friendly although reserved service.
When paying at the counter, I asked whether they offer a vegan dessert (not for this visit, but possibly in the future)? No they don’t. Asked whether they would provide it with advanced notice, for example if we came with a larger group? ‘No, it’s not the chef’s specialty.‘
That’s a real pity. This day and age, it’s not so difficult to make delicious and creative vegan desserts. There’s even vegan meringue made from aquafaba, vegan pie, tiramusu, cookies, icecream, crème brûlée, …. You could just make the desserts standardly vegan, and no one would even notice.
I heard from friends the vegan dish on the menu has not changed for ages (being the curry).
If they were to offer some other vegan dishes and desserts, I would visit again. 😉
