#184 Sandwich for lunch from Brazi’s, Bruges

restaurant review #184 – Brazi’s is a sandwich lunch cafe. It mainly offers take-away (there are a handful seating places too). As the name suggest, Brazi’s is a sandwich shop with a ‘touch of Brasil’ (website). It is located very close to the Central Market place, in the same street as vegan shop Leeloo and restaurant De Republiek. I was looking for a quick lunch to take home with me and went in to ask whether they have any vegan options. The lady at the counter was very friendly. I was offered a sandwich with hummus, guacamole, eggplant, tomato and raw vegetables. The bread was said to be vegan. So I bought that sandwich to take away (5€). The sandwich was nice! #71 – Vegan cakes and pie at Vero Caffè, Bruges ***

Restaurant review #71 – Vero Caffè is a coffee and tea bar in the city center of Bruges, not far from the central Market Square and the Burg. So far, it’s one of the few places in Bruges where you can order a soy lattè or a vegan hot chocolate. Since a couple of weeks, Vero Caffè also serves vegan cakes and pies on Thursday, made by Marieke from Chez Mariette. Hurray! It was hard to choose from all those delicious looking cakes and pies. I went for the apple pie with a lemon tea. Very nice! The place is bright, spacious, and cosy, and there is also a terrace in front. Chairs are a bit uncomfortable, some cushions on the chairs would be nice and would make it a bit more relaxed (there are some couches in the front though). Service was friendly and quick. Toilet in the back was clean. We sure hope those vegan pies and cakes will become available every day! #21 Le Pain Quotidien, Bruges **

Restaurant review #21 – Chances are you’ve probably been in one of the many establishments worldwide of Le Pain Quotidien. Or at least you’ve seen one of them! There is also one in the heart of Bruges, near the central market place and the Burg. Pain Quotidien is French for Daily Bread. They sell a wide variety of bread over the counter, and you can also sit down for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee with some baked goodies. The restaurant always has one large communal table (for 10 people or more), but also other tables for 2 if you want to have a more private conversation. There’s always something vegan available and vegan items are clearly marked on the menu card. Le Pain Quotidien confirmed to us that the bread served at the table is always vegan. Most of the breads sold over the counter are also vegan, but the raisin bread (kramiek), sugar bread and brioche are non-vegan. UPDATE – see below We were at Le Pain Quotidien in Bruges for lunch on a Friday, and the …
