#63 Disappointing dinner at vegetarian resto Food for Friends, Brighton (UK) **

Restaurant review #63 – This is the last restaurant review from our visit to Brighton (UK) last Summer. You can see an overview of all our reviews of our Brighton trip here. I wish I could say I have saved the best for last, but helas. Food for Friends is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Brighton, and a ‘household name’ as it were. So we definitely wanted to visit it during our mini break in Brighton and made a reservation for dinner. It is located in the city center of Brighton, not far from the famous Brighton Pier.

#59 Fastfood lunch at the Loving Hut in Brighton (UK) ***

Restaurant review #59 – I’ve already posted several reviews of the restaurants we went to in Brighton during our mini break there this Summer (there is still one more to come!). Brighton has a large collection of vegan eateries and restaurants with vegan options. There are also two Loving Huts in Brighton, vegan restaurants that are part of an international chain. One of those Loving Huts is located in Gardner street, which is in the main shopping area of the city. And it is right across from the shop ‘Vegetarian Shoes‘, which I blogged about here. We were in the shopping area of Brighton on a Saturday, and the street was made into a pedestrain zone, with terraces in front of cafés and pubs. The weather was beautiful, so it was a nice atmosphere! We sat outside on the terrace of the Loving Hut to have a fastfood lunch! This was the menu: This is what we had. To start with, we shared a mixed platter: some soy chunks, spring rolls, … (£6,95). The special of the day was a pie with …

A look inside shop Vegetarian Shoes in Brighton, UK

Shop review #21 – I’ve already posted several reviews of the restaurants we went to in Brighton during our mini break there this Summer (there are still some more to come!). Brighton not only has a large collection of vegan eateries and restaurants with vegan options. There is also a shop of the well-know brand ‘Vegetarian Shoes’. It’s located in Gardner street, which is in the main shopping area of the city. And it is right across from a Loving Hut restaurant (world wide vegan restaurant chain). We were there on a Saturday, and the street was made into a pedestrain zone, with terraces in front of cafés and pubs. The weather was beautiful, so it was a nice atmosphere! Although you can nowadays easily find vegan shoes online, I do find it difficult to buy shoes online, as I definitely want to fit and ‘feel’ them (out of 5 shoes I try, most of the times only one ends up being comfortable!). So I was eager to go to a ‘real life’ vegan shoe shop, where I could actually fit …

#56 ‘Fish n Chips’ at The Gourmet Girls vegan Pop up restaurant, Brighton, UK ***

Restaurant review #56 – Last Summer, we spent some days in and around Brighton, in the southeast of England (UK). Brighton is a vibrant but also quite touristic place. Brighton is known to be a hub for vegans, with several vegan and vegan friendly restaurants. That is also the main reason why we choose to go there this Summer! I already posted some reviews of the restaurants we went to in Brighton, but there are still some more to come! One of the places we went to was the pop up restaurant of the Gourmet Girls (from Titbits catering), which is held every Friday evening. It is located at an organic store ‘Fanny’s of Hanover’, which is a 15 minute walk from the train station of Brighton. I just noticed on their website that the last pop up restaurant will be on December 18, 2015, so be quick if you still want to check it out! You do need to make an advance booking. The menu of the pop up restaurant of the Gourmet Girls is always built …

#50 A quick bite at vegan café VBites, Brighton (UK) ****

Restaurant review #50 – VBites is a vegan café in the center of Brighton (south of England, UK), near the seaside and the famous Brighton Pier. UPDATE see below. There’s also a small store with a selection of vegan items in the café. VBites is also a UK brand of vegetarian and vegan food products. Brighton is known to be a hub for vegans, with several vegan and vegan friendly restaurants, and VBites often pops up when asked for vegan recommendations. A couple of weeks ago, we spent some days in and around Brighton. Brighton is a vibrant but also quite touristic place. I will put a more general post about our visit to Brighton up later. I have already put up several restaurant reviews from our meals in Brighton, and there are still more to come, as we definitely ate a lot! So on the last day we went to VBites. The place was quite empty when we were there for lunch (around noon on Tuesday). We decided to go sit upstairs. It was very relaxed and nice music …

#49 Fantastic dinner at Terre à Terre, Brighton, UK *****

Restaurant review #49 – A couple of weeks ago, we spent some days in and around Brighton, in the southeast of England (UK). Brighton is a vibrant but also quite touristic place. I will put a more general post about our visit to Brighton up later. And there are several restaurant reviews coming up, as we defintely ate a lot! Brighton is known to be a hub for vegans, with several vegan and vegan friendly restaurants. That is also the main reason why we choose to go there this Summer! Terre à Terre is a more upstyle restaurant in Brighton. It is a vegetarian restaurant, with lots of vegan options standardly available. When I asked in vegan groups about definitely must places to visit, Terre à Terre was mentioned several times, so we really didn’t want to miss this! Hence, I already made the reservation (online) about a week beforehand, which is defenitely a must, since options for that Saturday evening were already getting limited. It is located in the city center, not far from the famous …

#48 Spicy dinner at vegetarian restaurant Planet India in Brighton (UK) ***

Restaurant review #48 – Planet India is a vegetarian restaurant in the center of Brighton. As the name leads to suggest, it’s an Indian style restaurant, with curries and dahls and such. The restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk from the central station. The restaurant also offers take-away. Brighton is a vibrant but also quite touristic place, with lots of opportunities for vegans (that is also the main reason why we choose to go there this Summer). I will put a more general post about our visit to Brighton up later. And there are several restaurant reviews coming up, as we defintely ate a lot! 🙂 We phoned to make a reservation before we went up there, and it’s a good thing we did, as the time we had planned on going there was already fully booked (and this was on a weekday!). But we could come earlier, so we quickly packed and went to the restaurant. There’s a large terrace outside, and we already noticed the friendly atmosphere. If the friendly guy waving at us in this pic …

#46 Nice vegan pub food at The Prince George in Brighton (UK) ****

Restaurant review #46 – The Prince George is a vegetarian Pub in Brighton, in the south East of England. It is in the city center, about 5 minutes by foot from the train station. Brighton is a vibrant but also quite touristic place, with lots of opportunities for vegans (that is also the main reason why we choose to go there). I will put a more general post about our visit to Brighton up later. And there are several restaurant reviews coming up, as we defintely ate a lot! 🙂 We were a bit anxious to dine at the Prince George, as we thought it may be with loud music and too crowded, but it was a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. There were plenty of other people in the pub, but the arrangements of the seatings sideways in seperate ‘chambers’ easily allows for decent conversations. Hard seatings though and also small and rather instable tables! The interior seems to us like a typical English pub, but what’s different of course is that it is a …

I spotted someone with this shopping bag in Brighton!

We spent a couple of days in Brighton earlier this Summer. It’s a small but touristic town in the south east of England. We chose to go to Brighton, as we read there are so many options to eat out for vegans. And there surely are! It was great. I will be posting reviews of the restaurants we visited later! On our stroll through the city center, we spotted a lady with this shopping bag from Veganz (German vegan organisation/supermarket). Pigs are awesome Cows are cool Please don’t eat them ’cause they rule! Great! I just impulsively went up to here, told her that I loved the bag and asked if I could take a photograph. Must have been very odd that a complete stranger suddenly comes up to you to ask to photograph your bag 😉 But I thought it was very cool to spot this and see likeminded people 🙂 We had a very short chat. She had bought the bag in Berlin, but if I remember correctly she was from the UK herself. Anyway, thank you …
